Dining styles to wow all year round

The pressure of festive entertaining seems to begin earlier every year, with the shops stocking baubles sky high as soon as the sun sets on summer, and let’s not forget the Christmas in July phenomenon that has sprouted (festive pun intended) up in the last few years. We at Out There Interiors like to take things a little slower so now that it’s finally December and, in our opinion, legitimately time to start getting ourselves in check for Christmas, we’re taking a look at what makes for a show-stopping dining experience… the big meal is what makes the big day, after all.

So… the presents are wrapped, the tree is up, the feast is in the oven and guests are on their way. All that’s left is to adorn the dining table with festive delight. Whether you like to go overboard with glitter, or create a foliage frenzy to rival a Scandinavian forest, Christmas is the perfect occasion to let loose and go a little OTT on the decorations. As much as we’re all for kitting out the home in a new look each season, we do understand that actually, it’s a little more practical to invest in a look that glides seamlessly through all and can be adapted to suit. Here we’ve rounded up our favourite styles to create a WOW look for Christmas and beyond…

Snow white style

Normarie dining table, £1258
Haku acrylic dining chair, £595
Tibetan lamb fur throw, £125
Pineapple candle holder, £54
Huge wire vase, £565
Bambini resin stag head, £60

Top tip: this look works wonderfully with white, white, white – and a touch of glitter! If fake snow, glitter bombs and sparkle are your decorations of choice then this is the style for you.

Post-Christmas, this style lends itself perfectly to a clean, minimal style which oozes glamour and sophistication.

Nordic luxe

Portlyn dining table, £825
Riverlyn velvet dining chair, £545
Pillar candle holder, £53
Decorative bottle, £53
Sunburst wall mirror, £155
Hoop pendant lamp planter, £95
Edyth 4 piece cutlery set, £41

Top tip: layer the table with foliage and gathered twigs and branches for a classic, stylish look. The gold lends itself for an extravagant floral display. Our favourite is eucalyptus… it smells great, too!

Post-Christmas, the gold table will continue to add a maximalist elegance, and who can resist this gorgeous grass-green velvet. Gold and green should ALWAYS be seen!

Out There Eccentricity

Laura dining chair, £185
Freja dining table, £575
Dasha vase, £69
Tumblers (set of 6), £60
Bamboo tree, £250
Prosecco wall light, £84

Top tip: This look works perfectly with fairy lights and one-off decorations… steer clear of anything too twee or matching. Individualism is key to make this work. This sty;e is ideal for those that don’t really buy into the whole ‘Christmas’ thing but still want to add a little sparkle and joy… you won’t see a traditional Christmas tree here – the bamboo plant will do just fine.

Post-Christmas, this look combines chic style with added attitude. The vibrant light, clashing blues and tropical plant bring subtle nods to quirkiness, while the statement, bold black and grey furniture and lighting create an instant impact. The beauty of eccentricity is that anything goes… if you see something new that you love, add it in; it’ll work – we guarantee it!
